About the UEFA European Football Championship

The UEFA European Football Championship, also known as the European Championship or Euros, is the primary association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Held every four years since 1960, it is the second most prestigious competition in European football after the FIFA World Cup.

The tournament is organized by UEFA and was originally called the European Nations' Cup. It was renamed to the UEFA European Football Championship in 1968. The competition is open to all UEFA member associations, with the host nation(s) determined through a bidding process.

Format of the UEFA European Football Championship

The UEFA European Football Championship is contested in a two-stage format. The first stage is a qualifying round, in which teams are drawn into groups and play each other home and away. The top two teams from each group qualify for the second stage, the final tournament.

The final tournament is held in the host nation(s) and consists of a group stage and a knockout stage. The group stage is divided into four groups of four teams, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.

The knockout stage consists of a quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The winner of the final is crowned the UEFA European Football Champion.
